January 5, 2024 Message from Principal Lopes

Dear Parents/Guardians, and I.S. 10Q school community,

After serving as the Principal of I.S. 10, the Horace Greeley MS, for over 18 years, I have made the very hard decision to retire from my position effective January 31, 2024.

I have been honored to serve as the Principal of I.S. 10, and the community, and it has been a privilege to work alongside many of the dedicated hardworking staff and faculty that have made I.S. 10 a great school and it has been my pleasure to have cooperated with the parents of the Parent Association, and the School Leadership Team to always make things better for the children.

I continue to extend my gratitude to the parents and the Community based Organizations, who have supported and helped our school through the years.

I have taken tremendous pride in seeing hundreds of students graduate through the years, but it was particularly special to always see the look of joy in each parent/guardian's eyes as the children marched at the graduation ceremony and celebrated their accomplishments. I feel privileged to have worked in our community, and to have observed our students develop, flourish, and become confident successful young adults over the years.

In conclusion, I will miss this place!
